Powertrain and Performance
The Bronco Sport is based around the same engineering as the popular Ford Escape. All models in the lineup feature all-wheel drive as standard, alongside an eight-speed automatic transmission, but there's a choice of two engines.
At the entry level, a 1.5L turbo gas mill makes 181 horsepower and 190lb-ft of torque, offering a great compromise between power and fuel economy. However, to make the most of the Bronco Sport's off-road capabilities, upgrading to the 2.0L turbo-four engine brings an impressive 245 horsepower and 270lb-ft, pushing the SUV into new levels of performance for a compact crossover. The Bronco Sport's impressive standard of features continues into the infotainment section, with every model in the lineup boasting an 8" touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Navigation and a high-end Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional upgrades, while for those who prefer tactile operation, a selection of buttons and rotary dials can be used instead of the touchscreen.
